Boosting the Profile of Your Business

Howdy! I'm Stanley and I'm here to help you to boost the profile of your business. I do not own or operate my own business. However, I am very interested in how small and medium-sized businesses work to raise their profile and increase sales. To find the answers to my questions, I set out to speak with local business owners here in Sydney. I have learnt so many cool things from these business owners, I just knew that I had to start writing this blog so I could share my knowledge with others. I hope you enjoy the articles posted here.

Tips for Improving Shipping Container Storage Units

Revenue in Australia's self-storage sector grew by 1.6% in 2020, with the boom expected to continue, thanks to the growth of consumerism and e-commerce culture. Therefore, if you plan to enter the self-storage industry, you need to be innovative, and using shipping containers are an excellent option. Transforming shipping containers into self-storage units is easy and cheap, and it provides a level of flexibility that traditional brick and mortar units do not. Despite this, shipping containers need touch-ups to attract clients and perform optimally as storage units. Here are tips for improving shipping container storage units.

Consider Condensation Treatment

Shipping containers are metallic; therefore, condensation can be a nuisance. Some clients will be storing valuable items sensitive to moisture in your shipping container units. Thus, if you allow condensation to build up and drip on stored goods, you must compensate clients, particularly if you guaranteed safe storage. However, it can be costly, especially if you have a low-limit insurance cover. Thus, you must consider condensation treatment before using your shipping containers for self-storage purposes. Condensation treatments are applied to the insides of a shipping container and help soak and hold moisture. In addition, hire a professional to apply the treatment for better results. You can also install moisture traps for a longer-lasting solution.

Prevent Interior Odour

Shipping containers have a distinct smell, especially after modifications and painting. Notably, some clients refuse to use shipping container storage units with an unpleasant odour, which can cost you business. Although you can open doors to ventilate the interiors, you have to deal with accumulated dust. Luckily, there are easy and innovative solutions to eliminate shipping container odour. One such solution entails spreading used coffee grounds in each container. The high nitrogen content in coffee absorbs and neutralises foul smells. An added advantage is that coffee repels insects and pests, ensuring that your clients' belongings remain pest-free for the duration of storage.

Use Secure Partitioning

Shipping containers come in two standard lengths: 6.1m and 12.2m. The most cost-effective strategy is to buy the 6.1m containers and use spacers. However, the partitioning you install will determine whether clients use your shipping containers as storage units or not. For example, using single-sheet plywood as partitioning exposes clients' belongings to theft and vandalism. The reason is that plywood is easy to pull down. On the other hand, partitioning shipping containers with metal guarantees secure storage units, storing valuables of any kind.
